Located near the charming medieval city of Mirepoix, Montségur, and the Pyrenees, lOUSTAL AUX HIRONDELLES is the perfect base for exploring the Cathar Pyrenees. This simple yet comfortable cottage is situated in a tranquil and relaxing hamlet in Ariège.With approximately 140m² of space, the cottage features a spacious living room-kitchen of around 30m², four bedrooms (sleeps 140), a bathroom, an outdoor courtyard, and covered parking for your vehicle. Within a 5-minute walk, you'll find a local bakery with a grocery store and newspapers. Additionally, the river is only 100m away.
We offer a warm welcome from April to the end of October, with rates varying depending on the number of rooms occupied. For up to two bedrooms, the weekly rate is 300€; for three bedrooms, it's 400€; and for four bedrooms, it's 500€ (excluding tourist tax). The cottage's functional layout combines simplicity with modern comfort, including amenities such as a TV, dishwasher, washing machine, conventional and microwave ovens, and more. Outside, there is a large fenced area where you can enjoy meals outdoors using the provided table and barbecue. You can also park your vehicle under cover.
In general, our farmhouse offers a comfortable retreat near the Ariège Cathar Pyrenees, surrounded by a serene and peaceful environment in a region known for its forests, mountains, and historical and prehistoric sites. Mirepoix, with all its amenities, is just a 10km drive away. Within a 50km radius, you'll find plenty of activities to keep you entertained, whether it's exploring cultural or sports activities, natural wonders, or medieval and prehistoric sites.
The nearby towns of Lavelanet, Pamiers, Foix, Tarascon, Carcassonne, St Girons, St Lizier, and Toulouse are all within easy reach. And if you're up for a day trip, Andorra is just 1 hour and 30 minutes away, while the sea and Spain are only 2 hours away.
Ariège offers a wide range of activities and leisure opportunities for all ages, including natural sites, museums, local gastronomy, and more. Just a stone's throw away from the medieval city of Mirepoix, you can also visit the cathedral, the Rock Church of Vals, the Merovingian archaeological site of Tabariane, and Pamiers, the city of Gabriel Fauré. Within a 30-minute drive, you'll find numerous attractions, such as the fortified village of Camon with its 400 rosebushes, Montbel Lake, Foix Castle, caves, the underground river of Labouiche, a prehistory park, and hiking trails suitable for all levels. Fishing enthusiasts can also enjoy fishing in the river or lake.
