Description:

Description for B&B:

What exactly is a "mas"?

In the region of Provence, a "mas" refers to a traditional farmhouse. These structures are strategically oriented towards the South to shield them from the powerful Mistral wind that sweeps through the Rhône river valley. To regulate temperatures, "mas" typically lack openings on the North side and feature narrow doors and windows to keep out excessive heat in the summer and cold in the winter. It's important to note that not all "mas" are strictly farmhouses; the larger ones, often constructed by the Bourgeois, are known as Bastides.

On the other hand, a "mas de ville" aims to recreate the ambiance of a farmhouse, allowing visitors to experience a taste of rural Provençal living.
