Description:

Description for B&B:

"The true paradises are the paradises that we have lost." (M. Proust). One cannot truly express themselves like Proust without venturing beyond the confines of home.

Dating back to the 18th century, the country villa known as "Il Palazzotto" was once the farm of an Etruscan village nestled within the picturesque Sienese hills. This region is characterized by its abundance of cypress trees, castles, and farms set amidst olive groves and vineyards. Conveniently located just 30 km from Siena, "Il Palazzotto" serves as an ideal base to explore the enchanting wonders of Tuscany. Notably, this area is renowned for producing the famous wine Brunello di Montalcino and is dotted with charming villages and monasteries along the historic "Via Francigena," an ancient route that stretches from France to Rome.

Our villa boasts six comfortable double rooms and six bathrooms, accommodating up to 12 guests. On the ground floor, you will find a spacious living room, a large lounge, and a well-equipped kitchen, all of which open onto a panoramic terrace overlooking a vibrant garden adorned with flowers and plants, including a delightful wisteria pergola. (Check out our video on Youtube titled "Il Palazzotto Siena").

Immerse yourself in a romantic ambiance as you dine by candlelight, surrounded by nature, and admire the breathtaking panorama that once captivated Leonardo da Vinci. Adjacent to the main terrace, we also offer another delightful space at a higher level, featuring a pool and a beautifully landscaped sundeck.

Spanning across 42 acres of woodlands and Mediterranean vegetation, our property is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, preserved as part of a natural park with scenic walking trails.

At "Il Palazzotto," we pride ourselves in providing our guests with a truly personalized experience. Our knowledgeable owner and qualified staff are readily available to assist with any inquiries, whether it be recommendations for exploring nearby cities, discovering hidden gems along picturesque routes, or organizing visits to local farms and castles. We place great emphasis on culinary excellence, offering a chance to savor the authentic flavors of the region through our owner's expertly prepared dishes, such as Tuscan bruschetta, zuppa di farro, tagliatelle ai funghi porcini, fiorentina steak, Pienza pecorino cheese, Montalcino Brunello wine, extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, ricciarelli, panforte, and more.

This historic residence has been meticulously restored and renovated, paying homage to the traditional Tuscan style. On the ground floor, you will find inviting living spaces with two fireplaces, perfect for relaxation. Our guests have access to telephone, fax, and internet connections. From the ground floor, you can step out onto the garden terrace or ascend to the first floor, where six beautifully appointed bedrooms await.

Each of our spacious bedrooms, furnished with taste and quality in mind by the owner, offers splendid views. The corner rooms boast private bathrooms with showers, bidets, and modern amenities. All rooms feature double beds, with one room accommodating an additional third bed. The two central rooms showcase elegant canopy beds, while the other two rooms offer twin beds. An additional bathroom with a shower is located down the hall, with a sixth bathroom conveniently situated on the ground floor.

Thanks to its central location, "Il Palazzotto" provides easy access to Florence, Siena, and the surrounding areas. Within an hour or a little over, you can reach most cities in Tuscany and Umbria, including Assisi and Perugia. Rome is a mere 200 km away from our villa.

Our region is celebrated for its historical significance and natural beauty. The Renaissance splendor of Florence, the Gothic charm of Siena, and the ancient Etruscan and Roman influences are the cultural hallmarks of our land. Additionally, the enchanting towns of Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, and Monteriggioni are well worth a visit. Museums, abbeys, monasteries, Romanesque churches, and Roman baths add an extra touch of allure to your explorations. From the Gregorian chants of St. Antimo Abbey in Montalcino to the Renaissance frescoes by Sodoma and Signorelli at the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, and the mystical ruins of the Gothic Abbey of St. Galgano, these remarkable sites complete your journey through our region.

The diverse and captivating landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, woodland, and fields, with colors that morph with the changing seasons, will leave an indelible mark on your memory, much like Proust's involuntary recollections.
