Description for B&B:
The De Battisti family constructed this house in the late 17th century, making it the only Patrician-style residence in the district at the time. Throughout the centuries, it attracted numerous notable individuals, including Count De Boissieux, Count de Marbeuf, Viscount de Barin, and, most notably, Sir Gilbert Elliot, the viceroy of Corsica. In the 19th century, the house was transformed into a luxurious hotel that hosted esteemed guests such as Gustave de Flaubert, Joseph Multedo, the Duc of Orleans, and Prosper Mérimée. However, after the hotel closed its doors, this exquisite location fell into disrepair and remained abandoned for years.
Today, our family has completely renovated the property and transformed it into a guest house known as A Casa Reale. It serves as the perfect sanctuary in the heart of the city. Guests can enjoy the spacious terrace, offering breathtaking views of the nearby sea and dock. The 70 square meter living room boasts a magnificent bookshelf, a comfortable area for relaxation and entertainment, and a grand piano from a Prussian factory dating back to 1904. This piano was originally gifted to Belgian King Leopold.
The house has been meticulously restored with great attention to detail, aiming to capture the authentic soul and style of the old patrician residence. Every effort has been made to create a picturesque and unique atmosphere, including the selection of skilled craftsmen and high-quality materials. Handmade terracotta tiles, meticulously restored moldings by a master plasterer, and cement tiles from the last century all contribute to the harmonious blend of modern and antique furniture within the house.
