Description:

Description for B&B:

Experience the enchantment of a 17th century farm-house nestled in the untouched beauty of the Girona Pyrenees. Perfect for hiking and mountain-biking enthusiasts, this secluded haven is surrounded by vast woodlands and tranquility for miles on end. At night, the only light you'll see is the moon and stars, creating a truly magical atmosphere. Situated on a mountain pass, the house offers breathtaking views of two valleys, treating you to a visual feast. With over 300 sunny days a year, you'll bask in the warmth of the sun throughout your stay.

We offer two guest-rooms on the first floor of our exquisitely restored house, where we reside, as well as a separate apartment on the ground floor. The larger room boasts a private bathroom and is furnished with a double bed and a double futon sofa-bed. The second room features two single beds. Our guests also have access to a dining room with a cozy wood-stove. The apartment, flooded with natural light, showcases high vaulted ceilings, an American kitchen, a fireplace, a spacious dining table, and a comfortable living area with a sofa-bed. Additionally, it includes a sleeping room with a double bed and a set of bunk beds, a generous bathroom, and a charming garden terrace with a barbecue.

In our self-sufficient haven, we rely on a central fireplace for heating and solar panels for electricity. We take pride in making our own bread, pasta, game sausages, marmalades, and jams using the fruits from our trees and wild berries and nuts. Our organic vegetable garden thrives, and we even raise chickens and ducks. For your dining pleasure, we offer half-board and full-board options, using our organic produce as well as locally sourced ingredients to prepare our specialties.

Situated in the privileged middle-mountain region, at heights ranging from 600 to 1,500 meters above sea level, our location offers a stunning view of the radiant Empordà plain that stretches towards the sea. Welcome to Alta Garrotxa, a rugged and solitary middle-mountain region that showcases a diverse and contrasting landscape. Sunny slopes are adorned with Mediterranean dry forest, consisting of holly oaks, oaks, and pine trees, while shady areas are embraced by lush and humid vegetation, including chestnut trees, beeches, and black poplars. Deep ravines, gurgling mountain streams, cascades, alpine meadows, and imposing rock walls add to the region's allure. Although historically sparsely populated, scattered farm-houses and Romanesque chapels dot the landscape, reminding us of the region's ancient past. Encounter deer, wild pigs, hares, and foxes as you explore, with bird songs filling the silence. No electricity or telephone cables, nor any asphalt, taint the 32,865-hectare region, allowing you to escape the chaos of everyday life and immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. Relax under the enchanting shade of the chestnut forest or unwind on a hammock beneath a majestic oak tree. Just 15 minutes away lies the river Muga, named after its role as a border between France and Catalonia. In the summer, dive into its crystal-clear natural pools for a heavenly experience. Autumn brings the opportunity to hunt for mushrooms, chestnuts, figs, and blackberries, while spring treats you to wild strawberries, cherries, asparagus, and more mushrooms. Winter presents a lightly dusted landscape under a brilliant blue sky, without the biting cold of higher mountains.

We offer guided hiking and horse-back tours to help you discover the most remarkable views of this region, known for its rugged terrain and historical significance as a crossing point for those traversing the Pyrenees on foot. For serious mountain-bikers, several marked routes wind through this captivating area.

Appréciations pour ClardeBosc, Albanyà:

Can coll
Review by: Claire, Nov 6 2012 3:52PM
