Description for B&B:
Our house, named Ygeia or Hygieia after the Greek Goddess of Health, is a place where we always feel amazing. We fell in love with this house in 2009 and have put in a lot of hard work to make it our own. While we've done most of the renovations ourselves, major projects like the pool have taken a bit longer. That's why we decided to rent it out as a gite to help cover costs and share this incredible place with others. We hope that you have a fantastic time and enjoy the property as much as we do!When you stay in our home, you'll experience the charm of a traditional French country house with added modern comforts. We've preserved the old-fashioned appeal while incorporating modern fixtures. Whether you're outside on the exceptional river terrace, exploring the lush green garden, or relaxing in the cozy and comfortable rooms inside, we're confident that you'll fall in love with the house just like we have.
Our location in Flaujagues is just 15 kilometers from St. Emilion, a famous medieval village and vineyard that is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. We're also 50 kilometers from Bordeaux, and only about an hour and a half from the Atlantic coast and the Bassin d'Arcachon, known for its beautiful beaches and delicious oysters. The nearby Medoc region is also renowned for its excellent wines. Flaujagues is situated in the Entre-deux-Mers, an area famous for its wines, charming medieval villages, and numerous hiking trails. Additionally, there are four golf courses in the vicinity.
In the southwest of France, the region is a culinary paradise, offering a diverse range of restaurants. From the prestigious Hostellerie de Plaisance in St. Emilion with its acclaimed chef, to La Puce, a local restaurant for vineyard workers, you'll find an amazing variety of flavors. Whether you're craving a hearty beef dish or want to try the local delicacy of la Lamproie (a type of fish), or even if you prefer pigeon or oysters from Arguin, the options are endless. We'll be more than happy to provide recommendations to ensure you find the perfect dining experience. And if you enjoy cooking, we can point you in the direction of the best places to shop for high-quality products and wines.
Conveniently, our house is located between two international airports. Bergerac, which is 40 kilometers away, offers flights to and from England through Ryanair. Bordeaux Merignac, just 50 kilometers away, is another option for travelers.
