Description for B&B:
Mirage is one of the most spacious barges available for cruising on the Canal du Midi. Its central grand saloon is bathed in natural light and fresh air, thanks to the large portholes on both sides of the barge. Unwind and enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine from the fully stocked bar, which boasts a unique decor reminiscent of a 1940s aviators lounge. The open galley allows you to observe the preparation of your meals and even pick up some culinary tips from your personal onboard chef. You can savor your meals on the deck, surrounded by the peaceful and picturesque surroundings. Alternatively, if the weather doesn't cooperate, the interior dining area provides a convivial atmosphere to enjoy cuisine made from the freshest locally sourced ingredients.
During your cruise, you'll have the opportunity to relax on the well-appointed teak deck, as you glide along the canal, pass through locks, and admire the beautiful countryside. If you desire further relaxation, there is a heated spa available for your enjoyment. Additionally, your English-speaking tour guide will accompany you on daily excursions in an air-conditioned van. The region offers numerous attractions to explore, including charming villages, wineries, covered markets, and historic sites.
Mirage is an authentic French péniche from the 1950s, thoughtfully transformed into an elegant floating boutique hotel by its owners, Pascal and Mimi Chauvin. Cruising the historic Canal du Midi in southwest France, Mirage offers luxurious accommodations for two to six passengers. What sets Mirage apart is the unique opportunity to take an excursion unlike any other barge vacation on the Canal du Midi. Pascal, a retired French Air Force pilot with 21 years of experience, now flies a classic WWI biplane, called the Comet. Passengers can embark on an extraordinary 35-minute flight to experience the Languedoc countryside from above.
