Description for Gite
Mas de la Gache is a charming old farmhouse that dates back to the early 17th century. Over the past 12 years, we (Esmé, Eddie, Julia, and Lucie) have dedicated ourselves to restoring this historic property and giving it a new lease on life. In addition to our small-stock farming, we have also built a beautiful holiday apartment that will be available for rent starting this summer. Our "Mas" is peacefully situated just outside the village, a pleasant 15-minute walk away, and is separated from it by the serene Cèze River. This distance allows us to create our own little piece of paradise, free from the noise of traffic, streetlights, bustling resorts, and prying neighbors. What we do have is an abundance of peace and tranquility, a sky filled with twinkling stars at night, the delightful sounds of birds and insects, and a lively atmosphere of cackling chicks and crowing roosters. We even have fresh eggs and homegrown tomatoes to offer. And, of course, the climate in this region is wonderful for most of the year, adding to the overall appeal. In short, we offer the perfect place to unwind and simply do nothing. It's an ideal spot for leisurely siestas in the shade of our riverside trees, indulging in late breakfasts, and savoring delicious home-cooked meals.
For a reasonable price, you can experience the best of the deep south of France at our spacious and comfortable farm. We believe that the space and tranquility around our property are what truly set it apart. We sincerely hope that you can fully enjoy and appreciate this during your stay. We love waking up in the morning, stepping outside with a cup of coffee, and immersing ourselves in the symphony of birdsong and the gentle rumble of the river. Life in the south is meant to be lived outdoors, which is why we have also created an 80 m2 apartment on the first floor of one of our barns. It features a roof terrace with views of the yard, two double (or triple) bedrooms with their own bathrooms, and a spacious open-plan living and kitchen area. The apartment has been lovingly restored in traditional style, providing a fresh and inviting space to enjoy during the warm summer days.
Inside the apartment, you will find all the comforts you need for a pleasant stay, including a well-equipped kitchen, a TV, a cozy wood stove, and heated bathrooms. Outside, as mentioned before, there is plenty of space to play, go for walks, or simply relax and soak up the peaceful surroundings.
Goudargues, a charming village with a population of around 1,000 inhabitants, is located nearby. This village boasts a rich history that can still be seen in its architecture and surrounding areas. In the "Le Gard" department, Goudargues is known as the "Venice of the Gard" due to its picturesque canals that wind through the village center. Goudargues is also the hub of eco-tourism in the area, offering a wide range of amenities such as bakeries, butchers, hair salons, beauty parlors, a village supermarket, bars, restaurants, a post office, tourist information, and various shops catering to different needs. Despite its popularity with visitors, Goudargues maintains a laid-back atmosphere, allowing you to take your time and enjoy a cold beer or a pastis on one of the terraces along the canals, shaded by the magnificent 200-year-old plane trees.
