Description for B&B:
Located in the town of Chirens, in the heart of the Dauphiné region, this flour-mill commenced its operations on the Cras river in approximately 1840. Originally owned by the Richard-Martin family, who were millers for generations, this charming pink mill has a rich history. The water flows through a canal and then a suspended channel before reaching the troughs, where its weight is harnessed to rotate the wheel. Inside, large gears connect two sets of grinding wheels - one for grinding corn and the other for wheat. A horizontal axle, suspended from the ceiling, powers the vertical grinding wheel. Today, certain components of the mill have been preserved, including the wheat cleaner, troughs elevators, bolters, and flour mixer. The residential area of the mill has been thoughtfully converted into guest rooms and a kitchen, creating a unique accommodation experience.Reviews
