Situated in the beautiful Loire Valley, our guest room at the Old Castle offers stunning views of the Chaumont-sur-Loire castle and its garden festival. Located in the charming village of Onzain, with a population of 3500, you'll be just a fifteen-minute drive from Blois, Amboise, Chenonceau, and a half-hour from Chambord or Tours. The Onzain train station, which is served by the SNCF Paris-Tours line multiple times a day, is also conveniently close by for those traveling by train. With both train and car options, you can reach Paris in less than two hours.

The Old Castle guest room is actually a spacious suite, comprised of four rooms, totaling 70 square meters, with a private terrace on the upper level of the historic wing. The floor, which dates back over 500 years and is 1.20 meters thick, was rebuilt in the 19th century and completely renovated in 2010. You will have complete independence with private access to the suite.

On the left side of the suite, you'll find a room that showcases materials and artifacts from the old castle, where breakfast can be enjoyed in inclement weather. Climbing the stairs, you'll enter the main room, which is bathed in natural light from four openings on both sides, and spans over 25 square meters. On the moat side, a venerable stone staircase leads to this room, and also provides access to a small covered terrace nestled against the remains of a 14th-century tower, where breakfast can be served when the weather permits.

The spacious master bedroom features a comfortable 180cm bed or two 90cm beds. There is also a day bed (a real 90cm bed) that can potentially accommodate a child. On the courtyard side, there is an office with a fireplace and TV, with a 90cm bed (a second one is possible). On the moat side, there is a small living room followed by a dressing room, which includes a 90cm bed. This space leads to the bathroom with a toilet and bath. A cot and baby equipment are available upon request.

Outside, the park, large terrace (220 square meters), and secure moat are perfect for leisurely walks. A boat is also available, at your own responsibility, for a closer look at the swans and ducks that adorn the 5000 square meters of the moat. Please note that Willow and Weston, our four-legged friends and guardians of the moat, restrict the presence of other pets on the property.

We are proudly approved by "Gîtes de France" with a 3-ear rating, and our guest room at the Old Castle is open year-round, by reservation. During the season, the Association for moats "The Arts of Helion" organizes concerts and shows, and if you are our guests on a performance day, you will be our special guests. If any of the furniture in your room catches your eye, it may be available for purchase from the Museum-Gallery of the Old Castle.
