Description for Gite

Located in the tranquil countryside of the Perigord Noir, Le Petit Chambon offers a peaceful retreat between the serene village of Gabillou and the charming hamlet of Pauliac. This delightful gite serves as an excellent base for exploring the numerous attractions of the Dordogne region, including popular destinations like Hautefort, Sarlat, the Lascaux caves, and many more.

Recently renovated just two years ago, the gite boasts a cozy lounge area with a wood burner and a fully equipped "cuisine americane," complete with a large electric oven, gas hob, coffee maker, kettle, and toaster. Should you wish to try out new recipes during your stay, we are more than happy to provide additional equipment, herbs, and spices. Alternatively, if you prefer a relaxing dining experience, you can easily visit one of the nearby local restaurants, just a short drive away.

The spacious bedroom overlooks the charming courtyard and can be arranged with either a double bed and an additional single bed or three single beds, perfect for friends traveling together. The gite also features a generous "wet room" style shower and toilet, along with a separate toilet and basin. Additionally, a laundry room with a washing machine is available for your convenience. Bed linen and towels are provided and changed on a weekly basis.

Unwind by the poolside or indulge in a quiet reading session at the lovely blue table and chairs in the courtyard. Off-road parking is available for your convenience. Furthermore, Le Petit Chambon was designed with disabled guests in mind, so please feel free to inquire about the facilities when making your booking.

Directions

To easily reach Les Chambons by car, you have two options. If you are coming from the N89 at Thenon, simply turn left at the main crossroads in Thenon, heading towards Sainte-Orse. It is approximately 7km from Thenon to Sainte-Orse. Look out for signs to Gabillou along the way, but we recommend following our directions once you have arrived at our location for the first time.

If you are coming from Limoges on the D704, drive past Saint Agnan (by Hautefort) for about 10 minutes until you see the sign for Sainte-Orse. Follow the signs for Sainte-Orse, which will take you to a small crossroads in the center of the village. You will see Hotel de France on your left and the Marie on your right. Turn right at this crossroads and go downhill. At the bottom of the hill, take the left turn signposted Gabillou. Stay on this road for 4km, ignoring the left turn to Gabillou. Just after the Gabillou turning, you will spot a charming stone cottage called Le Chambon, our neighbor. Les Chambons, the big house, is located on the left shortly after passing Le Chambon. Proceed past the side of the house and make a sharp right turn (driving slowly!) through the large iron gates into the courtyard. Please note that you may need to perform a two-point turn to maneuver through the gates.
