The Logis de l'Astrée is a charming 17th Century nobleman's house located between Saintes and Cognac. With its original austere style that exemplifies the region of Saintonge, this historic house warmly welcomes guests all year round. Offering a serene atmosphere and spacious open areas, including a sitting-room/library, a vineyard garden, and a swimming pool surrounded by woods and vineyards, this property is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Additionally, it serves as an ideal base to explore the treasures of the Saintonge region, such as the beautiful Atlantic coast, Cognac's famous spirit, stunning Romanesque architecture, and the vibrant festivals held in Saintes and Cognac throughout the year. As a wine-producing estate owned by a family of winemakers for seven generations, the Logis de l'Astrée also offers the opportunity to taste their exquisite Cognac, Pineau des Charentes, and Vin de Pays. Each guest room features a unique character that reflects the elegance and grandeur of its surroundings.

Description for Gite

The gîte is located in the old servants' quarters, offering complete independence and a private garden. It has direct and secure access to the swimming pool and has been awarded 3 épis by Gîtes de France.

La Petite Maison comfortably accommodates 2-3 people, combining comfort and tradition. The sitting room features a plain fireplace and potager, typical of simple houses from the period. The mezzanine floor overlooks the sitting room, and the separate kitchen and bathroom are tiled in terra cotta. The lime-washed walls and linen furnishings create a cozy and homely atmosphere. The private garden is perfect for relaxation before enjoying a swim. Bed linen and towels are provided, and television is available upon request.

La Maison des Chênes is located in the south outer wall of the Logis de lAstrée, offering a tranquil environment and complete independence. It has two rooms, each with a private bathroom, making it suitable for families of 4-5 people. The spacious living room opens onto a private garden with garden furniture and a barbecue. A pathway leads to the swimming pool. Sheets and bathroom linen are provided.

The gîte is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and iron. ADSL internet access is available at the reception of the Logis de lAstrée. Parking is available near the house with access through the garden. The Maison des Chênes is also accessible for handicapped individuals. It is classified as a 3-star gîte by Gîtes de France.

Directions

To reach the Logis de l'Astrée from Saintes, follow these travel directions:

Begin by taking the N141 road towards Cognac.

After a while, make a left turn onto the D134 road, which will lead you towards Saint Sauvant and Saint Bris des Bois.

Continue driving through the village of Saint Bris, staying on the D134 road. Then, make a left turn towards Brizambourg.

As you exit the village, keep an eye out for the cemetery. The Logis de l'Astrée can be found right next to it.
