Description for B&B:
Whether you're searching for a new home, enjoying a peaceful vacation, or just passing through for a night, Les Bruyeres at Verteuil sur Charente offers an unbeatable location, top-notch facilities, and high-quality accommodations. This business is currently for sale, so please contact the owners for more information. As you drive through the picturesque Charente countryside, with its scenic sunflower and sweetcorn fields, you might stumble upon the charming village of Verteuil, just a short 5-minute drive south of the bustling market town of Ruffec. The village is nestled along the banks of the river Charente, with the impressive 15th-century chateau overlooking its tranquil streets. Verteuil also boasts a range of amenities, including 3 cafe/bars, 2 restaurants, bakeries, butchers, a general store, and even a pharmacy.
Upon entering through the grand old farm gates, you'll find yourself in a private courtyard surrounded by high walls. In the summer, the courtyard is adorned with beautiful hanging baskets and flower arrangements, creating a stunning display. At the back of the courtyard, there is an open barn that provides secure, covered parking for up to 6 cars.
Our accommodations consist of 3 spacious and en suite bedrooms, located in a converted barn that retains its original charm with features such as exposed beams, dressed Charantaise stone, and even an original feeding trough. All rooms are equipped with central heating for your comfort.
Each of our three bedrooms includes an en suite with a shower, hand washbasin, and toilet. Additionally, each room offers ample storage space with wardrobes and drawers. We provide English to French electric adapters, hairdryers, and radio/CD alarms in every room. Our rooms are serviced daily, and towel changes are available upon request. We also provide shampoo, shower gel, and soap. If needed, we can accommodate families by adding a baby cot or supplementary camp bed to any of the rooms.
On the ground floor, we have a family room with a double bed, two wardrobes, and a sitting area with comfortable chairs, a coffee table, and a sofa that can be converted into a double bed for families. On the first floor, we have two double rooms. One room features a double and single bed, while the other room has a double bed. Both rooms include a dressing table, easy chairs, and built-in wardrobes.
We understand the importance of having access to a kitchen while staying in a bed and breakfast. That's why we have included a fully fitted kitchen exclusively for our guests. In our kitchen, you'll find a four-ring electric hob and oven, a microwave, a fridge, a kettle, a coffee percolator, a slow cooker, a toaster, a steamer, a full set of pots, pans, casseroles, and utensils, as well as crockery, glasses, and cutlery. The kitchen also features a dining table that can seat up to 8 people. Feel free to help yourself to complimentary tea and coffee whenever you desire. In this area, you'll also find English TV with all the FreeView channels, a wide selection of board games and videos, as well as information on local attractions and dining options. WIFI internet access is available in all rooms.
We have a separate laundry facility with washing, drying, and ironing facilities should you require them.
If you're in the area searching for a new home, we are more than happy to share our knowledge and answer any questions you may have about the property buying and renovation process or integrating into French life, including health, tax, and French language courses. If you're simply looking for a relaxing break, we are here to provide advice on local attractions and places to visit.
Our sun terrace, facing east, offers a covered gazebo where you can enjoy your breakfast in the morning sunshine during the summer months. The lawned garden features a pergola walkway on three sides and enjoys sun exposure from early morning to late afternoon.

Appréciations pour Les Bruyeres, Verteuil sur Charente:
TR3 recalcitrante..!!!!
Excellente adresse

A True Gem
My husband and I stayed here for 3 days while looking for a house to buy Fabulous location overlooking the Charente. To have a full kitchen at ones disposal in a B&B is rare and very much appreciated. We were given lots of useful information regarding the area and before we left had bought a house in the village. Thank you Adam and Jan for such an enjoyable comfortable stay.
B&B Par Excellence
Unobtrusive hosts Jan and Adam were welcoming, friendly and informative. A relaxed and laid-back manner is the signature of their business. On-site parking was important to us as was the proximity of the property to the attractive centre of Verteuil. A three or four minute walk across two little bridges spanning the Charente river and you're there! Our accommodation was bright, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Many guests return to Les Bruyeres time and again and my wife and I will be following suit. Highly recommended.
